When to Go
| As stated before, it is very important to be at
your location when the fish are in the streams. We have
provided several counts (supplied by the Alaska Fish and Game) over
the last three years to indicate when the fish have been there.
Many factors influence the actual arrival of the fish. Some
say water temperature and depth have a great influence. Others
profess to be able to determine the times with taro cards. We
believe that you can guess as good as anyone else. It does
help to know when they have been there in the past. So we
provide information along those lines. The information is for
the Kenai River Chinook,
Kenai River Sockeye,
Russian River, the
Gulkana River,
Anchor River,
Fish Creek,
Little Susitna (Little Su) and the
Deshka river. There are other
streams that feed into the Kenai or the Big Susitna River and they
will differ somewhat based on distance from the counters. The fish and game folks do not have
counters on all the streams. We do indicate where the counts
occur and the approximate transit time from the mouth when that data
is available. Follow the links below to the pages of interest. |
